Will Florida's Primary Matter?

Florida elections office phone banks are being swamped with calls from voters wondering if their vote will count on Jan. 29.

This concern refers to the national political parties' decisions to disqualify all of the Democratic delegates and half of the Republican delegates from Florida, in order to punish the state for moving up its primary date.

But election supervisors are urging people to remember that there are local races and a proposed amendment to cut property taxes on the ballot as well.

Candidates signed a pledge not to campaign in Florida until after the South Carolina primary, which means nothing in the Sunshine State until Jan. 26.

What role do you think the Florida primary take in 2008?
