Tax Relief For Us?... Foley's Finances
It's starting to look like we'll get to vote on a property tax measure in January. Both the House and Senate are working on measures during this week's special session. One component would double how much value is exempt from non-school taxes for many homeowners and provide tax breaks for people who move. It also would give new tax relief to people who buy their first home, among other changes. Are you feeling more confident that you'll get a tax break you'll be happy with?
Even though he's been out of office for more than a year, former Congressman Mark Foley still has lots of cash. How much? He has more in his war chest than Tim Mahoney, the man who replaced him, and more than the 3 Republicans who want to replace Mahoney in 2008 combined. Party leaders on both sides say look Foley was in office a long time and had raised a lot of money. He still has six-figure legal bills he's paying off. Do you think it's fair that Foley still has this enormous sum of money? What would you suggest he do with it?
