Tax Relief Coming?... 3 *Billion* Bucks For Campaigns

With no chance to reach a compromise by the end of the week, Florida lawmakers headed home without a property tax cut plan in place. They'll return Monday to pick up the discussion again. There is talk that some form of "portability" will be allowed... enabling people to move to new houses and take some of their property tax savings with them. Are you confident you'll be pleased with some form, any form, of tax relief?

A new study out estimates that when you add up the costs for all of the state and federal races next year, it will add up to 3 *billion* dollars. That's nearly twice what it cost in 2004. Is this money well spent? It hasn't been very successful in the past, but should there be some type of campaign finance reform enacted to keep this spending in check?

Why not request the actual amount collected county by county for each of the last 5 years. then ask each county what they did with the money above 5 percent over the prior year.
