Here Come The Candidates!
Presidential hopefuls are flocking to South Florida this week. Monday, Arizona Republican John McCain spoke to a large crowd in Vero Beach. While he has yet to declare his candidacy, the Senator told the crowd that mistakes have been made in Iraq but we can't withdraw our troops. He said in Vietnam the terrorists didn't follow after we left... but that wouldn't be the case in Iraq. McCain feels the terrorists would bring the fight here to America. McCain said politicians have lost a lot of respect because they're too bitter and need to find some sense of bipartisanship.
Tuesday, Hillary Clinton will be in Miami... and on Saturday, Democrat Bill Richardson will be the keynote speaker at the Broward County Democratic Party's annual Jefferson-Jackson dinner.
Do you think Florida will play a pivotal role again in deciding the presidential outcome in 2008?
Democratic Congressmen Ron Klein and Tim Mahoney were at the Port Of Palm Beach on Monday. Klein said he hasn't heard anything that would provide the basis for providing more troops to Iraq. Mahoney went so far as to say there is a sectarian civil war going on in Iraq.
Regardless of where you stand on the Iraq situation... it was heartening to see Monday that our troops aren't forgotten. "Forgotten Soldiers Outreach" and the American Legion Auxiliary of Royal Palm Beach took part in a flag folding project. The small flags fit in the pocket of a soldiers uniform... keeping America close to their hearts.
